Backpacking Trip Announcement
The following two documents provide acceptable food and backpacking gear for all backpacking trips.
Backpacking Acceptable Food List
Please adhere to these guidelines. We know what a Scout needs on these trips as well as how much he can carry over extended distances and rough terrain. On our most recent trip, the Scouts who were wearing cotton socks all had blisters and we had to make numerous stops in order to treat hot spots. The Scouts who had entirely too much equipment in their backpack were miserable most of the trip and could not keep up with the pace required to reach our campsite before dark.
Effective immediately, all Scouts will have their backpacks checked prior to departing on the trip and all unnecessary gear will be given to the parent for safekeeping. Any Scout who does not have proper backpacking shoes and socks will not be allowed to go on the trip.
If you have any questions, please contact the Scoutmaster.
